There is some fun and delicious beer being brewed out west with some fruity tastes. Golden Road Brewery is the largest craft brewery in Los Angeles and they stay true to their Southern California roots with west coast style IPAs and fruit-centric session ales. So, start planning for your spring with these great beers that offer a fantastic taste with unique twists on flavor. And, if you can’t wait until spring grab one of them now and think about the days when winter is far behind us.
Mango Cart is a light and refreshing brew. Mango Cart is Golden Road’s Wheat Ale and it packs a lot of fresh mango and a pleasant that pleases the tastebuds. This beer has a slightly tart finish though. Mango Cart is part of the brewery’s fruit cart series, beers inspired by the iconic fruit vendors of Los Angeles. You can find it cans and it will be available for purchase nationwide in time for warm weather sipping.
This would definitely be a refreshing beer to have on a hot summer day. The beer is very pale with almost no lacing and the flavor is exactly what the name suggests to beer lovers. You will enjoy a tart mango wheat beer. It is a fantastic beer if you like beer with some juiciness to it. It starts with the mango flesh flavor then turns into a slight very slight bitter mango skin taste all while keeping a nice mellow white ale taste with decent carbonation.
Next up is Golden Road’s Man-Go-War which is their the winning brew created by Sebastian, Fla., homebrewers Jonathan Billings and Michael Flinn for BEERLAND Season Two. You will notice aromas of bright blueberries that compliment a juicy mango and a kiss of heat on the palate. Man-Go-War makes for a refreshing American Wheat Ale that will delight the senses. It is available for purchase in Southern California and South Florida. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to pickup a pack or two.
Finally, I was able to taste their Wolf Among Weeds IPA, which is gold in color. This full-bodied IPA is a balanced showcase of the majestic hop species, in Latin, Humulus Lupulus, which translates “Wolf Among Weeds”. At 8 percent Wolf Among Weeds IPA will sneak up on you from behind the dank earthy hop notes and subtle rye spice. This beer has a light, golden straw pale color with a thick white head and minimal retention. It is very clean with fresh lemon, lemon peel and some exotic tropical fruits.
It is a delicious IPA. It is very hoppy with very distinctive hop tastes to it. Head disappears quickly, but the effervescence continues gently during the evaluation of the brew in a full-size glass.
In 2011, beer enthusiasts Meg Gill and Tony Yanow founded Golden Road Brewing to bring fresh beer to the local market in the most sustainable way possible. Golden Road is committed to engaging and supporting the growing community of socially-minded beer enthusiasts. Along with the core beers, Golden Road brewers are constantly experimenting with the freshest ingredients through a collection of rotating, seasonal and limited-edition brews.
Overall, it was a great experience sharing beers from Golden Road. Again, what did you think I got right and what do you think I said wrong? Let us know in the comments section.
