John Kerry Mocks Donald Trump’s Paris Climate Negotiation Tactics With OJ Simpson Comparison

John Kerry responded to President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate agreement. However, his comments were not well-received by supporters of Trump who took to social media to air out their thoughts on the former Secretary of State’s opinion. Kerry believed that this was a reduction of America’s role in the world on a scientific front and for what would happen to the earth.

In an interview on “Meet The Press,” Kerry compared Trump’s pledge to “see if we can make a deal that’s fair,” to OJ Simpson’s famous 1995 pledge to find the person who killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. A bit of odd comparison but one that stuck out on social media. Though Simpson was found not guilty by a jury in a criminal case, a judge in a civil case found him liable for Brown and Goldman’s murder, and many remain convinced that Simpson killed both at his home in 1994.

In the Paris climate accord, 195 countries agreed to combat climate change by cutting greenhouse gas emissions. It was one of the signature accomplishments during Kerry’s four years as secretary of state, along with a deal with Iran that Trump has also ridiculed.

“He’s going to go out and find a better deal?” Kerry said. “That’s like OJ Simpson saying he’s going to go find the real killer. Everybody knows he isn’t going to do that because he doesn’t believe in it. Because if he did believe in it he wouldn’t pull out of Paris. American has ceded global leadership on this issue.”

Here are some reactions on social media to Kerry’s opinions. A lot of Trump’s supporters came out on social media. A lot of feedback was negative insulting Kerry’s time as Secretary of State.

“Trump tried to make a fake economic argument. He delved into fake news throughout his comments. They don’t stand up to scrutiny at all,” Kerry said to The Boston Globe. “He’s tried to make the argument that somehow the forgotten man in America is getting screwed by this agreement. But the truth is the forgotten man in America is getting screwed by Donald Trump and his choices. And slowly that truth is going to sink into people when they see what happens.”

What did you think of Kerry’s opinions about Trump’s pull out of the Paris climate agreement? Do you agree or disagree with the decision? Let us know in the comments section.
