Ivanka Trump And Jared Kushner Being Addressed As ‘Secretary’ At White House Is Unproven Claim

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are allegedly being addressed as “secretary” by White House staff is an unproven claim. An alleged White House staff e-mail was posted to an anonymous Twitter account. In that anonymous posting it was suggested that White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus sent an e-mail to White House staff directing them to call Ivanka and Jared as “secretary” in lieu of their close roles with President Donald Trump.

Where did this unproven claim originate? An anonymous Twitter user that uses the screen name @RogueWHSnrAdvisor (Rogue White House Senior Advisor) posted an image on 20 April 2017, of an alleged e-mailed message to White House staff written by Priebus, directing employees to moving forward refer to Ivanka and Jared, the daughter and son-in-law respectively of the president, as “secretary.”

The White House Press Office did not verify to Snopes if the e-mail was legitimate. Snopes further received confirmation from the person running the “rogue” White House staff Twitter account where they obtained the memo. The response was simply that “it was sent to all WH staff.” And, when asked if they are a member of the White House staff, they responded only, “yes.” However, that is not enough to prove the claim.

For opponents of Trump’s administration it would not seem like a stretch that a White House memo such as the alleged one above would be shared. Trump’s administration has taken the unusual step of choosing members of the president’s immediate family to work with him closely in the White House. Currently, Ivanka’s title is “assistant to the president” while her husband’s role is “senior adviser.”

Even though she has no government or policy experience, Ivanka plans to review some executive orders before they are signed, according to The New York Times; some earlier orders had set off a firestorm. She calls cabinet officials on issues she is interested in, recently asking the United Nations ambassador, Nikki R. Haley, about getting humanitarian aid into Syria. She set up a weekly meeting with Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary.

What did you think of the alleged memo sent to the White House staff? Do you believe there is truth to it or seen any further evidence regarding the claim? Let us know in the comments section.
