Creepy clowns planning a purge on Halloween night if a hoax. There is no truth to a story that clowns are planning to murder trick or treaters on Halloween. Rather, this is a recycled hoax circulating social media intended to scare people as the trick or treat night approaches.

Where did this hoax originate? ActionNews3 published the hoax article falsely reporting that creepy clowns had planned a purge on Halloween night and that police warned people to stay inside. You can read the hoax which circulated social media below.

Creepy Clowns Plan Halloween Night Purge “If you value the safety of yourself and your children, stay inside on Halloween night,” warned the Sgt. William Stein during a meeting with the Department of Homeland Security. “We have escalated these threats to acts of domestic terrorism and are working closely with the Department of Homeland Security to keep Americans safe this Halloween season.”

According to Stein, several threats about a “Halloween night purge” have been sent to schools, businesses, and even churches all across the United States. Local and state authorities are urging parents to not take their children out on October 31. Concerned parents are pushing for a mandatory curfew on the 31st which will begin at 5 PM. Others say this should not ruin their children’s Halloween tradition.

However, there is no truth to the above story, according to Hoax Alert. It should be noted that the above hoax story was previously published by Now8News in October 2016. Even the “Now8News” logo on the original image was strategically covered up with a “Special Report” badge, as you can see in the original image from that site.

ActionNews3 is a fake news website that consistently publishes hoaxes in an effort for them to spread on social media. There is no truth to the above story.

Florida deputies have issued a warning after an 11-year-old boy in Volusia County was nearly attacked by a man dressed as a clown, WESH 2 reported.

“Warning to evil clowns and anyone considering creepy clown activity: We will not be there to save you if your intended target defends himself or herself, and you may face other penalties as well,” the sheriff’s office said, according to WESH 2.

Halloween is a celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
