Is Gal Gadot Replacing Angelina Jolie For Bride of Frankenstein Over Maleficent 2 Production Conflict?

Gal Gadot is being rumored to start in the remake of “Bride of Frankenstein.” As of right now, Universal Pictures put a hold on moving forward with the Bill Condon-directed remake of 1935 horror classic “Bride of Frankenstein” so that David Koepp could perform further script re-writes.

Pre-production had already gotten underway in London for a production start in February 2018, but now the crew has been told to go home as things develop. It was then further confirmed that the movie has been pulled from its February 14th 2019 release date, with a new one not yet scheduled.

Now, fans are asking who will star in the horror classic remake? Previously, Angelina Jolie and Javier Bardem are being considered by the studio for the lead roles and all indications are the actors are not walking away from the film. However, there are not committing either until there is new script.

“After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone ‘Bride of Frankenstein,’” the studio said. “None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”

Now, comes a report from The Wrap which states that if Jolie falls through as the female lead, and with her commitment to “Maleficent 2” filming early next year she might, Condon has set his already thrown out Gadot, who is coming off hot success in “Wonder Woman,” as a potential backup choice.

Here are some reactions on social media to the rumor that Gadot could be joining the film.

For now, much of the decisions depend upon scheduling, so there will be plenty of changes. Either way, pushing production now gives the studio and Condon time to tighten the script following “The Mummy’s” underwhelming performance at the domestic box office. The Tom Cruise film launched the studio’s Dark Universe series.

In the original film, after recovering from injuries sustained in the mob attack upon himself and his creation, Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) falls under the control of his former mentor, Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), who insists the now-chastened doctor resume his experiments in creating new life. Meanwhile, the Monster (Boris Karloff) remains on the run from those who wish to destroy him without understanding that his intentions are generally good despite his lack of socialization and self-control.
