It’s important to keep up to date with your tech skills. We are after all in the digital age, from applying for jobs to requirements for specific roles, basic tech skills are a must.

Some people are more tech-savvy than others, but having technical skills is a great way to add a little UMPH to your CV. Many of us already have the basic skills that will be outlined below, but for those that don’t they may help you land you many more interviews by requiring them.

1. Knowledge Of Social Media

The social media realm is forever changing. It is vital that you keep up to date with what is new and to become familiar with the various platforms out there. The main ones include – Facebook , Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Linkedin. If you don’t know much about these platforms take the time to try them out. See how they can help you with your search for employment or how they could help the business that you work for.

2. Typing Skills

When interviewing for companies for specific roles you may be asked what your WPM (words per min) are. If you are unsure there are many typing programmes out there that will roughly judge that for you, that way you can give an estimate and include it on your CV when applying for jobs.

3. Emailing

Although this is a very basic skill, you would be surprised by the number of candidates that don’t know how to send an email. This includes attaching files, basic word formatting and how to CC another person in an email. We recommended trying to send a few emails to friends or family members. There are also many articles out there that provide you with guidelines to help you do just those basics.
